Leslieville School of Dance & Music

Leslieville School of Dance & Music offers a thorough and thoughtful education in a creative and nurturing environment. Director Kristen Dennis is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School and a former professional dancer of the National Ballet, Alberta Ballet, and Ballet British Columbia.

Over the years Kristen has trained in many dance disciplines including ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, character, and flamenco. She has travelled the world training and performing, is certified through the Imperial Society of Teachers in Dance, and has nearly two decades of dance teaching experience.

Whether you seek recreational classes or professional level training, Leslieville School of Dance & Music has something for everyone. Classes run weekly at our new 1461 Gerrard St. E. location for students 2 years to adult.

Our studio’s vision is to foster growth, not only in dance and music but in life as well. We are honoured to be a part of our students’ journeys, watching their confidence and capabilities bloom and the effect that this has on their interactions with the world.

Dance class sizes are kept small so that each student receives a high level of individual attention and has space to remain physically distanced. Positive body image is emphasized, while we encourage our students to attain personal bests rather than competing with their peers. Our instructors have been carefully selected for not only their professional training and industry experience, but also for their temperament, patience, and ability to inspire both children and adults alike. Every staff member at our studio is truly a great role model for their students and a valued part of our studio family.

From The National Ballet of Canada, the prestigious Ryerson University Dance Program, the Royal Danish Ballet, Petrouchka School of Ballet, and the renowned Deborah Colker Centre of Movement, to name only a few, our educators are of the highest calibre. With their help, we customize our dance curriculum to be above and beyond the traditional RAD standard.

Our school offers a boutique-style setting, with full-time administrative staff, in-person, face-to-face service upon entry, convenient on-site dancewear sales, studio viewing windows, professionally sprung dance floors, floor to ceiling mirrors for training purposes, commercial-grade air purifiers in every studio, comfortable change rooms (both girls & boys), a student lounge, and waiting areas (temporarily closed). Our convenient location offers ample parking nearby and is in close proximity to grocery stores, restaurants, a library, and an Early-On Centre, as well as retail and coffee shops, with a TTC stop outside our front entrance.

Serving East Toronto families and beyond for more than seven years, we invite you to join our community to see why the Leslieville School of Dance & Music should be your first choice of neighbourhood schools.
